  THE NEW HAPPINESS

the new happiness is currently an online curatorial project looking at the ways in which two dimensional work is displayed and discussed. It's interested in creating narratives with minimal text and language, relying on the combinations of images to create the context for the works.

Referring to the 1989 Michael Lehman film Heathers starring Christian Slater, Wynonna Ryder and Shannon Doherty, the new happiness is the title of the school pep rally attempting to combat teenage suicide. As a mixture of 90's dark hope, Heathers is merely one of the many iconic films during a period which has informed many artists practices. The 90's symbolised many new beginnings in music, film and art, the new happiness uses this as a starting point to create compositional and writing opportunities.
